We support decentralized energy as a cross-cutting solution to many of the challenges of sustainable development. Such a focus promotes participation and greater energy access for marginalized and rural communities to meet their energy needs.\ \ 2. We emphasize the importance of time-bound national targets for energy efficiency, energy savings, renewable energy and access to energy for the poor. To this end acknowledge and appreciate the interventions by the delegations from Switzerland and Germany.\ \ 3. Governments should facilitate capacity-building for the effective participation of youth and children in sustainable energy solutions by supporting the integration of sustainable development in formal education curricula.\ \ 4. Governments should scale up investments in renewable energy research as a matter of urgency in the face of increasingly dramatic climate change effects experienced globally, particularly by the world's most vulnerable.\ \ 5. Governments should coordinate the development of the renewable energy sector as viable means of addressing youth unemployment in the labour market.\ \ \pard\tx566\tx1133\tx1700\tx2267\tx2834\tx3401\tx3968\tx4535\tx5102\tx5669\tx6236\tx6803\ql\qnatural\pardirnatural \cf2 6. For young people - for the future \'d0 the definition of renewable energy is clear: small-scale hydro, wind, solar, and marine power are clean; but nuclear, fossil fuels, and large scale hydro-electric and incineration are neither clean, renewable, nor sustainable. In this vein, we wish to thank and acknowledge the intervention by the delegate from Micronesia on nuclear energy as an inappropriate energy source.\ \ We would consider CSD-15 a success if the above priorities are reflected into the text of the outcome document.\ \ Thank you Madam Chair.}
