Dear Professor Kazee,
I am a student at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, and the Director of Recruitment of Scoop08.com:
the first-ever online national student publication focused on the 2008
presidential race and the candidates, policies, and defining moments
that will shape it. Launched on Nov. 4 2007,Scoop08.com offers fresh, innovative youth coverage of and perspectives on the 2008 race for the White House.
Scoop08 is a network of hundreds
of student journalists nationwide and internationally (primarily in
high school and college), bolstered by a distinguished advisory board
including former U.S. Senators Alan Simpson and Gary Hart, Norm
Ornstein, Frank Rich, Robert Kagan, and Judy Woodruff. Check out this
recent article in McClatchy Newspapers about the project. Since its birth, Scopo08 has been covered by the BBC, New York Times, Reuters, and The National Review, among other media outlets.
We are actively recruiting college
and high school student journalists to write and edit, and would
appreciate if you could forward this email to students who you think
might be interested in contributing to the project. Specifically, we
are now staffing Chief Political Correspondents in all states. To
submit freelance columns, posts, and articles online, students can use
the "ScoopUs" function on the homepage of the Website (or email editors@scoop08.com). And to join the staff as a regular contributor or to apply for a state Chief Political Correspondent position, students can click here.
Alexander Heffner and Andrew
Mangino, Scoop08's co-founders, have appeared on CNN to offer their
analysis of the youth vote. To view their appearances online, visit the
Website's YouTube home here. And check out Heffner's most recent appearance on
CNN.com to provide perspective prior to Super Tuesday. For Scoop08's
editors and writers, we trust more media appearances are in store!
We hope to connect with your students soon.
Many thanks for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Nausheen Shaikh
