STATE: CROSS RIVER CAMP LOCATION: OBUBRA NAME OF STATE CO-ORDINATOR: MRS MARY DAN ABIA NAME OF SCHEDULE OFFICER: MR EWAH NTONGHA NAME OF TEAM LEADER: IFESINACHI SAM-EMUWA TEAM MEMBER: OLISA EMMANUEL BASIC INFORMATION: 1.Number of corps members that applied= Male: 63 Female:57 Total: 120 2.Number of corps members present on 1st day Male: 14 Female: 11 Total: 25 3. Number of corps members that graduated as volunteers Male:31 Female:23 Total: 54 SUPPORT RECEIVED DURING TRAINING IN CAMP From State Coordinator: Apart from NYSC lecture, the State Coordinator ensured that the projects volunteers were released and mobilized for training. From Schedule Officer: The Schedule Officer maintained a constant and consistent talk with both the Camp Commandant and the Head of Man O War and ensured that the volunteered corps members were released at the required time for training. She provided some needed materials such as marker board and cardboards and also stayed always at the training venue to monitor and ensured the smooth running of the training session. OTHERS: The two major collaborative agents , the Soldiers and the Man O War pledged their maximum supports and co-operation for the project. They assisted in the release of the volunteered corps members of the project whenever they were needed. CHALENGES: The major challenge was the commencement of training as the same day as orientation sensitization seminar, the corps members that indicated interest and applied couldnt really come for the training that much on that same day. They complained of tiredness because of the series of lectures theyve had that day though on the second day of training there was a huge turn-up. 1. VENUE (a) The venue was conducive for the training. We used a class room where both chairs and table was available. . 2. The duration of training was 8 hours/day 3. NO, there was no joint introduction for both MAC AND FACOR components because the two components trained in different venues that were distant from each other besides the available time was being managed to ensure that every module was handled to the understanding of the trainees within the limited time before the graduation was held at about 6.00p.m. 4. LESSON LEARNT: Time Management is very crucial in the achievement of any goal. General comment on planning and execution of training. . We hopefully believe that the knowledge inculcated in the lives of these corps members will go a long way in making them agents of change in their various communities. In general, it was a total, complete and absolute success. Thanks IFESINACHI SAM-EMUWA OLISA EMMANUEL 26TH NOVEMBER, 2008. TEAM LEADER. She ensured that the projects objectives and target in camp were met. At the Orientation Sensitization Seminar, she spurred corps members to grab the golden opportunity of the project in camp and see it as an avenue to improve and enrich themselves in knowledge, information and to build their capacity and to make a positive change in the lives of people out there. Finally, she urged them to come out en-masse and volunteer for the project. From Schedule Officer: The Schedule Officer ensured that all the key camp officials were met for a formal introduction of the team. This took off immediately the team arrived in camp because oflimited number of days to be spent. She ensured that the team was well taken care of on the aspect of accommodation, feeding likewise in other assistance that was requisite for a sublime sojourn of the team and of thesuccess project in camp. She was verywelcoming, co-operative and supportive. From Head of O.B.S: The Head of O.B.S ensured that the projects arrival was well publicized to everyone in camp. He accorded the team a slot of about 15 minutes on the second day of arrival to keep corps members especially abreast of what the project entails. CHALENGES: 1. VENUE (a) YES, the venue was moderately conducive for the sensitization. (b) It was an open space where everyone around including the state NYSC staff and corps members could be reached in tandem with a well sounded public address system. 2. 30 minutes was allotted for the sensitization seminar. 3. YES, there was a joint introduction for both MAC AND FACOR components. 4. TIME: According to the state NYSC time table vis--vis the number of weeks camping would be held, the project sensitization seminar was scheduled to hold after two other lectures must have been done which were NYSC lecture in which the State Coordinator described as compulsory for every corps member regardless of their volunteering group affiliation which was followed by lecture on the knowledge of the land (Cross-River) of her dos and dont, diverse culture and tradition e.t.c. The day agenda were started late which lead to the encroachment of the previous lectures into the projects sensitization seminar scheduled time. As a result of this, the seminar was held 30 minutes to Lunch break time. 5.LESSON LEARNT: It was learnt that for subsequent sensitization seminars, if it will not be possible to hold it during morning devotion period then it should be held before any other lecture. General comment on planning and execution of sensitization seminar: After the arrival and former introduction of the team by the schedule officer to key camp officials, postals and some cardboardscapturing the projects messages were pasted at strategic places in the camp. The sensitization seminar was a huge success.
